Thursday Morning (with an insight to my crazy life!)

Ok, so I'm pretty sure that its safe to say that I've been M.I.A. lately, but that's not my fault! Swear! ..Ok, it is, but I promise that I haven't forgotten about this little project of mine. Its just that I've been busy, and that part really is a true statement!

A few things you may not have known about my crazy life:
-I'm engaged to an amazing man. :)
-This man happens to have 3 equally amazing children.
-I work for the Government, specifically the county elections division.
-Since I don't want to be there forever, I'm also a full time student, and up until about 2 months ago had no idea what I wanted to do with my life.
-Did I mention that I've been in school for the past 2 and a half years??

There's so much going on in my life, and that's the reason why I started this blog up in the first place. There's some pretty good stories to hear, and lots of crazy antics! In short, I'm going to do better about posting, and there will always be something good to read!

My First Daring Baker's Challenge: Nanaimo Bars!

The January 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Lauren of Celiac Teen. Lauren chose Gluten-Free Graham Wafers and Nanaimo Bars as the challenge for the month. The sources she based her recipe on are 101 Cookbooks and www.nanaimo.ca.

I was very excited to do this month's challenge as my entire family on my Dad's side is from Canada, and this is supposed to be a true Canadian dessert.

I was a little disappointed with the way that mine came out, but it may be because I used the weight watchers version instead of the one that Lauren gave. I will be posting pictures later, I stole the one above for now! :)

Better Late Than Never, Right?

To say that I have been busy for the last few weeks would be a very large understatement. I don't think I have ever been so worn out in my entire life! So, that being said, I did not get the chance to upload pictures of my amazing dinner that I mentioned, especially since I couldn't even find the camera cord to get it hooked up with the computer anyway. Ah, my life is so blissfully unorganized.

Anyway, it's been about 4 weeks since we brought little Bella into our lives and unfortunately, 4 weeks hasn't seemed to have any effect on her resolve to "have fun" on every surface of my brand new home (for lack of a better term!). I don't know what we are going to do about her! I love her to death and she's just a sweetie, but I can't take mopping my floor twice a day EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm definitely not a woman destined for extreme housework, that's for sure. I've been thinking about taking her to the PetsMart puppy training class, but I have no idea if they even address the issue of potty training. I guess I will make a call and see.

Hopefully things will slow down very soon so that I can catch up on my crazy long to-do list and get back to some fun things. I will be posting my very first Daring Bakers Challenge, so look forward to that!

Any Takers?

I am so disappointed...one of the many things that our family got for Christmas was just the most adorable puppy, Bella. She is a miniature daschund that Justin just had to have. I didn't want to be taken with her at first but it was very hard not to..until we had her for about 4 days. It was "a new adventure" at first to see all the messes that she was getting into, and we cleaned them up without complaint. But now we've had her for about a week and that "new funness" is wearing a little thin.

We've been trying to crate train her and get her to sleep in there at night, but for the last two nights she whined for the entire night! She also doesn't do anything outside except play and try to eat things that she definitely shouldn't be eating. Justin just called to tell me that he went home and walked her for about 20 minutes and she immediately came inside and relieved herself on the hall rug! He is livid and is looking for any takers at this point, but I feel terrible because we made a commitment and I don't want to go back on this one. We'll give it a few more weeks and then decide, but if anyone has any ideas I would absolutely love to hear them.

So, I am excited because tonight I am going to try out doing my first food blog! I have been looking at these for the past few days and I am in love! I love to cook and figured that it wouldn't be too hard to take pictures of my adventures and talk about them.

First Blog!

My name is Allie, and I'm not new to the blogging world in any sense. I owned a website a few years ago called mendedreality.org, but gave it up when I realized that I didn't have any time for it. I'm not really interested in gaining a million people on here to follow my boring life, but my goal is to have an outlet to explore my pretty eclectic tastes and talk about the stuff going on with me!

I love to cook, so you can expect to see recipes and things of that nature on here. I'm also debating about whether or not to join the folks over at The Daring Kitchen with their monthly challenges, so you may see that too!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas..my boyfriend proposed! Omgosh I was so surprised! I had no idea that was coming, and I have no idea how he pulled it off (he's terrible at keeping secrets!).

Thanks to suckmylolly at Createblog.com for the template, even though I will probably change it soon :)
